Pay Per Click Budget Tips

So you have made the wise choice for your business marketing and decided to start a paid search campaign on Google AdWords or Bing, but you are not sure what you will need for a pay per click budget.

The good news is that you can have any budget that you want really. It is totally up to you. However, there are some thing you should consider when trying to figure out how to start.

The first question you need to answer is what is your average Cost-Per-Click?
Hopefully, your Google AdWords Manager has already done at least some keyword research and has provided you with those answers. If not, well, there is your first step; head to the Google Keyword Research tool and begin.

Cost-Per-Click can range anywhere from 1 cent all the way to some very highly competitive keywords like “Insurance” for $50 a click. As you can imagine, a $10 a day pay per click budget will simply not work with a $50 a click keyword, in fact I would argue you need about a $500 a day budget minimum to play that game. Plus, I would definitely recommend a highly experience account manager. On the other hand, $10 a day could be a safe way to at least get started with a 50 cent to $1 per click average.

The bottom line is that your daily budget must have ample room to allow for at least several clicks a day or you will never get any results to track. Paid Search campaigns are all about testing keywords, tracking results, and adjusting bids and ad copy. Testing, tracking, and adjusting, that process never ends.

With that said, I have noticed that a majority of my clients who are brand new to Google AdWords marketing and paid search campaigns, on average, start with a $1000/month budget. That gives them a bit over $30 a day.
